True Story : Tenzing Norgay

Tenzing Norgay is a person name. Probably, some of us will say what a weird name it is and where this person come from? Perhaps, some of us already know this name or even don’t know at all. How about Sir Edmund Hillary? Yes, of course everyone know his big name.

Sir Edmund Hillary was the first climber who climbed the highest mountain in the world, Mount Everest. But, at this moment we are not discussing about Sir Edmund Hillary as the first highest mountain climber in the world, but Tenzing Norgay.

Tenzing Norgay was a native from Nepal who worked as way guider for the climbers who want to climb the Mount Everest. Tenzing Norgay (Nepal people called him Sherpa) was the guide for Sir Edmund Hillary. On 29 may 1953 at 11.30, Tenzing Norgay with Sir Edmund Hillary successfully climbed the mount Everest, at the height 29,028 feet above the sea, and became the first person who then gave inspiration to other climbers to follow his achievement.

From 1920 until 1952, 7 expedition team who were trying to conquer the mount Everest were failed. Sir Edmund Hillary’s Success Story at that time was so phenomenal, for the Word War II just ended and became an inspirator to rebuild the self confidence to the world.

For his success Sir Edmund Hillary got a epithet from England Queen who just been inaugurated, she was Queen Elizabeth II and became the famous person throughout the world. But behind his success, Tenzing Norgay had a big role, however, why Tenzing Norgay unknown, and got everything as Sir Edmund Hillary did? Because he was the guide who helped and escorted Sir Edmund Hilllary up to the Mount Everest. Tenzing Norgay could put his first foot on the Mount Everest not Sir Edmund Hillary.

Mean while, after Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay came back from the Mount Everest. All reporters chasing and contended to have an interview with Sir Edmund Hillary, and only one reporter who interviewed Tenzing Norgay.

Reporter :”How is your feeling by conquering the Mount Everest”

Tenzing Norgay : “Very Happy”

Reporter : “you just a Sherpa (a guide) for Edmund Hillary, of course you are in front of him, shouldn’t you be the first person who put your foot on the Mount Everest?”

Tenzing Norgay :”yes, that’s true. At the last steps, I let him to put his foot and became the first person who climbed the Mount Everest.”

Reporter : “why did you do that”

Tenzing Norgay : “because that was his dream, not mine. My dream was sucessfully escorted him and helped him chased his dream”

That is a story about Tenzing Norgay who is so happy and candor to help everyone to attain his success without thinking about his self.

~What a great story, the chivalry and attitude of Tenzing Norgay, because of other prominence, without thinking the reward, of course giving a big motivation to appreciate the humble attitude. If we can think and act like he did, truly, this world are lived by a humble person with a great thought and wise heart. We do hope this story become an inspiration for us as a model pattern to everyone~

The Wonder Machine

In one evening, a young lady was sitting at the airport lounge, waiting for a flight to Surabaya. One hour remaining from the flight schedule, she felt impatience, so that she began to make herself busy to spend the time at that lounge. Accidentally, she saw a machine which was located closely where the lady sit.

“The Wonder Machine” as it was written on it.

Curious to know what it was, she was approaching that machine and began to read the information that was posted aside the machine :

“Insert a coin to this hole and the machine will read about you.”

She inserted a coin and the machine began to say :

“Good evening, Your name is Jane, 166 cm high, 50 kg weight, and waiting for a flight to Surabaya”

She was shocked because all information the machine gave were extremely correct. Her curiousity culminated. She inserted a coin again, and the machine said :

“good evening, your name is still jane, 166cm high, 50 kg weight, and you are still waiting for a flight to Surabaya.”

In her curiousity, that lady was thinking, probably there was a camera on this machine so that the machine could recognize her clothes, so that, she went to the restroom to change her clothes and her make up.

With her new look, she inserted a coin into that machine, and the machine said :

“good evening, you are still jane, your height still 166 cm, your weight still 50 kg, but you have missed the flight 15 menit ago.”

~what have been told from the story above, always happen in our daily life. We never realize that we are often involved with the ego. Always wasting the chance, suspicious and impatience in waiting for success, without doing meaningful action to satisfy our ego. Whereas, success should be reached with patience, diligent, big effort and high motivation. Without all of that, certainly success will leave us, remember, success will be ours, if we always appreciate the chance~

Punishment without Violence

Once upon a time in Chinese ancient, a wise father lived with his son in a peaceful village. His father really loved his son and in educating his son he never scolded him and used violence.

One day, the father ask his son to accompany him to a town to buy a horse. They took a chaise from the village to town, because the distance so far, indefatigable, his son so happy because this was the first time he went to town.

At the town, his son who looked so happy keep on watching entire town, he looked right and left, and accidentally, he saw there were a drama performance in the middle of the town, and he had a desire to watch that. He separated his self from his father who walked a head his son to the market.

The noon was going down so fast, the father was so panic looking for his son, after knowing his son not at his back side. He look worried, he passed every corner of the market to find his beloved son. Finally, in his confusion, he sat at the city park near the market, with his empty sight. Without noticing, his son who has watched the drama performance approached his father. Watching his son came the father looked so happy and said :

“where have you been, I search the entire town to look after you but I can’t find you”

“I follow you from the behind, but you run so quickly, I was left and astray.” His son lied.

The father knew his son lied, smiled and said :

“okay, I am your father and I am not good enough to take care of you, and made you astray, let’s go home, the day is getting dark now. I have bought this horse, please ride this horse home, I will walk home on my foot to reflect my fault.”

His son looked so shocked listening to his father’s answer, intended to speak, but his father has walked a head to his home. In his contrition, his son saw his father who walked in sweat in his face, keep on walking home, to accompany his father, his son slowing down his horse.

The father has walked for hours, then his son was crying and ride off from the horse asked his father to ride on his horse and said :

“I know I was wrong, I have lied, please don’t torture yourself anymore, please ride on this horse.”

The father smiled and hugged his beloved son.

~Violence can not face with violence, but should be faced with gentle, what a great proverb, as a reflection of the father from the story above, in educating our child should be fulfilled with love, educate without violence, a wise action we should follow. If we can follow this pattern, surely this world will be fulfilled with happiness.~

The Price of a Father

Once upon a time in Chinese ancient, there was a father lived with his child who was still 7 years old. His mother has passed away when he was 2 years, so that the child was taken care by a maid. His father was a success merchant, all of his time was spent for working to get some money. The child felt so lonely and one night this child said to his father who just came home :

“Dad, may I know how much is your earnings for one hours?”

“why do you want to know, just go to sleep” his father replied angrily.

The child dwelled and turn around his body went to sleep.

The next day, the child asked the same question to his father, fretful because his son asking the same question to him, he finally answered :

“I can get a pieces of a gold for one hour, why do you always ask me that question?” his father wonder to know

The child run to his room and came back to his father, bringing a money box look like a roaster, and broke it. The child collected the coins from the inside the broken money box and began to count it.

His father confused seeing the child behaved and he asked :

“what are you doing with that coins, do you want to buy some candies?” do you know how hard am I looking for money?” his father answered angrily.

“Dad, I have collected the money that you’ve gave me coin by coin, and I have collected half pieces of the gold, can I have your time for just an hour? I really missed the time you accompany my bed time, not by anyone else, I really want you hug me and felt the warm of a father’s caress, even though an hour, I begged you, Dad, the child detain his cry.

~parents’s love is greater than anything else in this world. Particularly for the child, they need parents’s warm love, but because of the avocation and the fake reason to make the family happy, we are to busy with our works and ignore our important responsibility, that is, to give attention and love to our child and family. Remember, money is not everything, because money can not buy the real happiness in this life~

Chasing the Happiness

Far beyond a head, years ago, in a small town in the India ancient, a young man was sitting and mused near a garden, his face filled with unhappiness, so much annoyance, and his mouth spoke out desperate words.

Not far from that young man, an old man was approaching him, saw the young man face that ignore his existence, the old man asked him :
“what do you thinking of young man, why I see you face fill with annoyance?”
“where I should find happiness, why I can not find it?” the young man replied without noticed that old man.
“Ouw…if you want to get happiness, caught a dragonfly that is flying at the garden beside you, and bring it to me, then I will give you an answer about happiness after that.” The old man challenged him.

With his lazy face and jaded steps, he followed the old man challenge, he went to the garden, and began to catch the dragonfly, but after many attempts, he got none of them. He began his efforts, hardly, running here and there, no direction, he hit the thatch who against him, breathless, he kept on catching didn’t care what was it in front of him, but still he got nothing.

The old man who saw him from ground-swel, directly approached, smiled and he said :
“You want to get happiness on that way?” running with no direction, hit anything in front of you, harmed the thatch and make the dragonflies get away from you?”
“Young man, looking for happiness is the same situation by catching the dragonflies, the more you want to get it, is the more he keep away from you, happiness can only fell by our heart” the old man explained.

The old man approached the garden and caught a dragonfly with no difficulties. “in order to get happiness, use our heart. With a pure heart, the happiness itself will come to us. As long as your heart fill with ambition to get happiness, truly, the happiness itself will get away from you, do you understand young man” the old man smiled again to the young man.
“Thank a lot, I understand”, the young man replied with a happy face.

~Happiness is not the target we should achieve, but the result of our benevolence. With the heartfelt and appreciate all the life process we have passed happily, surely happiness already in our hand. However, just like catching a dragonfly, the more we run with no direction, with ambition to get happiness, then the happiness itself will get away from us. Don’t just grumble, but esteem our time we have at this moment, because happiness will be belong to a person who appreciate the life~

Always Look Straight A Head

A young lady was sitting mused in her bedroom, once a time she rub the tears on her eyes that seemed to be dried on her face. Mumbled her mouth with distraught face, presaged she had a million problems on her head.

Stared at the mirror against her, shouted then said :
“I always love her, why do you leave me, do I look contemptible that make you leave me?” What am I living for ?”
Her exclamation reverberated in all side of the room until her mother who was outside that room heard her daughter shouted. In anxiety, her mother approached her daughter
‘s room.
“my daughter, is there any problem that make you shout a loud?” her mother asked. While crying, she hugged her mother then began to tell her mother about her boyfriend who has left her. With her smile and warm, her mother embraced her and fondled her lovingly.
“My daughter, look your head. It’s always look straight a head, but can’t confront behind, why our head was created like that, do you know the reason? Her mother asked her.
“I never think about that. Could you please explain to me?” Her daughter asked with hoarse voice.
“Surely, our head was created to look straight a head, in order to see future, not to head the back side, doing the flashback. Let the pass as a memory. Just like you, not because of the temporary sadness, you do un merit things. Let it be your pass, part of you life” Her mother advised her.
“Please remember, always look straight a head, and never regret whatever have happened to us, because that is part of our life” her mother explained.
“Thank you mom, I understand now”, her daughter replied then hugged her mother.

~“Never run away from problems, Face it and Problems will be solved”
a proverb to be reflected. Sometimes, a small problems can make us give up and take a quick way to solve it. Just face it, always look straight a head, don’t stuck in one problem, because “a wise man is a person who always look straight a head and consider the pass as a part of our life process”~

The Meaning of a Value

In a Twilight one evening at an austere house, a young man emerged, sitting directly to the door with a serious lineament. Once a time he caught his breath, indicated he had a big problem.

His mother was looking at him, approaching and asked :
“What has made you looked so sad my son, what was you thinking of ? just told me”, said his mother with her smile.
“I was so shame to you, I have tried, nevertheless I always failed. I would never get a job, I was always rejected by every companies wherever I applied.” He answered sadly.

Then his mother overdraft a pieces of paper money valued $100, and his mother said : “You saw this money, did you think you want it?” asked his mother.
“Of course, only lunatic who didn’t want $100” he replied quickly.
Then his mother crumpled that money, hereupon that money covered by crumpled and wrinkled.
“If this money looked disheveled like this, did you still want this money?” asked his mother again.
“Surely mom, It’s still $100, definitely I wanted” he replied swiftly.

And then for the next attempt, his mother re-crumpled that one again, she even trampled upon on it, as the result the money looked so dirty.
“How about with this money which has became so dirty, did you still want to have it ? his mother asked and convinced.
“Of course, whatever it was, its still $100, and didn’t change at all.” He replied confidently.
“It’s true my son, that value of that money never changed even though the shape and the form look so dirty, and did you know we should have to be like that money”

His mother kept on her words, “despite of I trampled upon it, crumpled, however its remained as $100, for its still valuable. Please remember, even though you were failed, never regrets, just proved it if you were precious and risked the failure, because only failed person who would be succeed.”

Afterward, the young man realized and promised to himself to be a valuable just like paper money $100.

~Fail is a process toward to success. There are no success without fail at the first time. However, the point of success itself is to give a value to our selves, that will make our selves so precious. Just like paper money $100, whatever it looks like, its always valuable. Likewise ourselves, even though the fail one by one come to us, but we have to be brave to face it and dare to try again, because we are valuable person, and success in order to be a valuable person~

To Become Just like A Bamboo

Once upon a time in a leafy village, trees grown around, a big mahogany tree grown so high, as if, he want to tell the world, how strong and powerful he was. Looks like he emitted his court to everyone who saw it. Not far from that mahogany tree, a bamboo grown side by side the mahogany tree. But if it is saw by opened eyes, just like sky and earth, that strong mahogany with its big branches, and a slight bamboo with its sagged-bough.

Even though they were totally different, they were always lived side by side, the humble bamboo always greeted the mahogany everyday, they talked to each other. The Mahogany Tree always proud to his self, how big and great. The Bamboo never bored to listen to the mahogany pride. Just smiled and flattered with his sincerity heart.

In one night, the heavy rain poured down in that village accompanied by wind blast. The thunderbolt shouted a loud, made that night so stricken. There were so many trees were toppled, because could not against the wind blast. The Mahogany Tree and The Bamboo were also blown by the wind blast. They were trying to stand out not crashed down to the ground.
The Mahogany Tree looked panic, trying to against the wind blast with his big bole. But his bole was not big enough to against the wind that blew so tight, finally The Mahogany Tree fell down to the ground. The Bamboo who was standing beside The Mahogany Tree also blown by the wind blast, but he didn’t against the wind blast, he just only followed where ever the wind blew him, so flexible. And finally, the wind blast passed away. The Bamboo remained standing beautifully, side by side with the Mahogany Tree who was toppled by the wind blast.

~In Pursuing of Success, a man is always faced by problems who come and go. But to be a success person should against that problems with our flexibility, follow and recognize the main problems we have and solve it with flexibility. Just like a bamboo who follow the wind blow so flexible. So that, we have to face the problems and no rigid to one solution. Because, if we are so rigid, and consider we are great without trying to be so flexible, by giving the same solution to one problems, just believe we will topple just like The Big Mahogany Tree~

A New General fell like a KING

Once upon a time in Chinese Ancient, there were a monarchy which was so glorious, leaded by a wise king. The Civilian lived in prosperity and taxation was abolished by the king, so that they revered their king.

Inside the monarchy there were the chosen war-generals that were great. They looked so naïve and mount over their subordinate. But from all the generals, there were a conceited general. He used to be a warrior who just being promoted as a general for his merit to the king. However, that made him pretentious.

He always gave weird commands and asked his warriors to revered him as if he was the king. Every time the warriors meet him, they will grovel at him and saluted him “Wan Xui.. Wan Xui…Wan Wan Xui…” (Long Life…Long Life…Long Life forever), which was esoteric only to The King.

“I was your leader, and all of you should follow my orders, or you all died. There were no mercy for the rebels” The new General shouted to his warriors.

The warriors morally under pressured and per forced followed the new general. This made others senior generals impassived.

Someday, the most senior generals in the monarchy intended to give some advice to that new general, then he asked the new general to go with him to a pasturage. In the compulsory condition, the new general followed his senior and said :

“why did you ask me to come here generals?” The new general shouted.
“ I saw you made a big achievement in your career and had a wide knowledge, I intended to have a discussion with you”, the senior generals replied friendly.
“What did you want to discuss, just said it”, the new general insisted.
“Let’s took a look at the lizard over there, did you think the lizard could fly as the birds over there?” the senior general asked.
“hahahahhahah….stupid question, of course not, lizard was lived on the ground, its couldn’t fly like the birds, that was a simple question, why did you give it to me?” The new general asked.
“What would happen if the lizard also want to fly?” the senior general asked again.
“surely the lizard would fall to the ground and died…., was that right?” the new general replied.
“absolutely right…just like we were. As a man we should know our position, if we insisted to have a position that wasn’t belong to us, we’d be died just like the lizard” the senior general explained wisely.

As though by the thunderstruck, the new general felt his fault. He was a general and couldn’t consider he was the king. Because if the king knew this, surely the death was waiting for him.

~In this world we can find a worker who fell he is the boss to others workers, behave off hand, without realize his position. This can be wise if we know and responsible on our position, never surpass the authority that aren’t belong to us, of course, we’ll “Died” in our friendship. Never ever fell as a KING, if we are just a general or warrior. With earnestness, effort and responsibility, truly that position will come to us, without acting like a new general who is pretending to be a fake king.”~

Let Go of it

There was a village near the mountain, an old grandmother lived alone with a small dog, her real friend. Everyday the old grandmother did planting and growing on the small yard, grew many green plants as foodstuffs.

She has been left by her beloved family, her husband has left her and married again with a rich widow. Her own son has passed away in 5 years old slipped and fell to the river not far from her house. Even though, she lived alone, she always looked happy and smiled to everyone who met her, nevertheless the dog and other animals she saw. She always greeted everyone she met.

Her Happy and friendly manner made everyone loved her, and gave her an epithet as The Wise Grandmother.

One day, not far from the wise grandmother’s house, a Youngman appear who was broken heart taking a blade fasted it to the ground for a time. For a while, he looked sitting silently, then his face looked distraught, stared at an empty direction that was unclear.

Watching that Youngman, the wise grandmother knew that he had a lot of problems, then she approached him. She greeted the Youngman.
“Hi, Youngman, why you look so distraught, What happen to you? Can I help you? The grandmother asked friendly.

The Youngman saw the grandmother and then turn back to see one direction with his empty sight without answering the grandmother’s question at all.

Knowing the Youngman didn’t ignore her words, the grandmother smiled and she grabbed the Youngman blade and began to carved a word on the ground in front of the Youngman, the word was Let go of it.

Looking at that word, the tear dropped down on young man eyes, looked at the grandmother and said :
“I have thought about this for weeks, and I intend to kill myself, because I always fail in passing the exam in order to be a government commissioner, even though I have followed the exam for many times. But One word from you have made me understand the meaning of life”

“young man whatever your problems are, don’t torture yourself like this. Remember, whatever the problems are, there are solution in it. If you think you want to let go of it” the grandmother said.
“make your problem as your life process, not as a burden, so that, we can appreciate our life utterly.”

The wise grandmother then, told her story who lived alone but could enjoy the life without thinking it as a burden. The Youngman who listened to the grandmother story realized that the problem he faced wasn’t a big deal than the grandmother had. He was too early to give up and take the quick way to solve that simple problems.

~Don’t consider small problems as our reason for not success. As we can find in our daily life, a young man who don’t want to continue his study because he can not pass the exam to enter his favourite school, employees who stop working because can not adaptable with the work environment, and others small things that they made it as a burden for not success and giving up. Just remember, “Made Big Problems turn into Small Problems, and consider the small problems as vanished.” That kind of mind set make ourselves become success and wise person. Don’t stuck in one small problems. Let go of it….there are a lot of life matters in front of us. Don’t make small problems as a burden for our success.~
